Updated:2019.04.15

In January and February this year, Sichuan's five major pillar industries secured revenues of more than 580 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 10.8%. This is also the first “report card” issued after the establishment ofthemonitoring index systemfor the five major pillar industries in Sichuan Province at the beginning of this year.

The five major pillar industries grew by 10.8% compared with last year, which was 3% higher than the growth rate of industries above state designated size. In January and February this year, Sichuan's industrial added value climbed by 7.8% from that of last year, 2.5% higher than the national total, sending Sichuan to the fourth place in the ten major economic provinces.

The relevant person in charge of the Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology said that Sichuan's five major pillar industries have achieved double-digit growth in the first two months. This year, Sichuan has insisted on building itself into a strong manufacturer, and endeavored to secure a concrete outcomein the field of industries at the turn of a new year.

In terms of different industries, among the five major pillar industries, themain businessincome of electronic information (including software), food and beverage, as well as energy and chemical industryhave increased by 15.4%, 14%, and 10.3% respectively, ranking the top three in terms of growth rate. The industry of advanced materials achieved a 9.8% year-on-year increase in main business income and equipment manufacturing secured an increase of 3.5%.

The industry ofelectronic information (including software) reported rapid annual growth, mainly ascribing to the gradual release of production capacity of key projects such as Chengdu BOE and CEC Panda 8.6-generation LCD panel production line. The rapid growth of food and beverage has a close bearing on the large scale ofproduction and sales of Wuliangye, LuzhouLaojiao, China Tobacco of Sichuanand other Sichuan tobacco and baijiu companies. The relevant person in charge of the Provincial Bureau of Statistics said that it is expected that Sichuan's wine, beverage and refined tea manufacturing industry will maintain a growth rate of more than 10% in the first quarter. The year-on-yeargrowth rate of equipment manufacturing is relatively low, mainly due to the overall decline of the automobile manufacturing industry.

The support of major projects is obvious. From January to February this year, the number of industrial projects under construction and newly instituted in Sichuan increased by 69.1% and 37.4% respectively. This year, we are to devote ourselves to “chainbuilding”, “chain addition” and “chain improvement”. Sichuan has initiated 474 key industrial and technological transformation projectspoured in over 100 million yuanof investment related to “5+1” modern industries, with a total investment of 1.04 trillion yuan. Among them, a total of 422 projects concerning the “16+1” key industries supported and coordinated by provincial leaders have been advanced, with a total investment of 964.1 billion yuan.

According to the relevant person in charge of the Provincial Department of Economics and Information Technology, the added value of industries above state designated size inSichuan increased by about 8% in the first quarter.Compared with the projected target, there was no doubt that a good start has been secured.
