On November 12, the 6th Global Forum of Leaders for Agricultural Science and Technology (GLAST-2019) opened in Chengdu, participants of which include the people in charge from 56 government departments, agricultural research institutions and 15 international organizations from 39 countries, and more than 400 representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and agricultural research institutions in China. Keynote reports will be released, seven seminars on the “construction of green agricultural production system”, “exchanges of experience of global poverty alleviation and rural revitalization”, etc. as well as two small seminars will be held from November 12 to 14.

　　The GLAST-2019 is co-sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Chengdu Municipal People's Government, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research and the International Atomic Energy Agency. Qu Dongyu, the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, delivered a video speech at the opening ceremony.

　　During the forum, delegates present will pass and release the Chengdu Declaration of 6th Global Forum of Leaders for Agricultural Science and Technology. The Global Agricultural Science Program of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences will be launched with an investment of 10 million US Dollars in the first phase of the program, aiming to promote the establishment of a stable international cooperation and coordination mechanism, so as to create a new community of agricultural science and technology through global collaboration.

　　The guests present will also visit some carriers of agricultural science and technology, such as the Chengdu National Agricultural Science and Technology Center, the Modern Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Demonstration Park of Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Tianfu Agricultural Expo Innovation Center, to experience the urban agriculture and industrial revitalization in Chengdu City.

　　Zhang Taolin, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Tang Huajun, Member of the Leading Party Group of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Yao Sidan, Vice Governor of the People’s Government of Sichuan Province, attended the opening ceremony.
