| Sichuan Province Has Printed and Issued the Implementation Opinions to Accelerate the Development of the Five Major Economic Zones |

Recently, the General Office of the Provincial Party Committee and the General Office of the Provincial Government have issued the Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Coordinated Development of the Chengdu Plain Economic Zone, Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Integration and Development of the South Sichuan Economic Zone, Implementation Opinionson Accelerating the Promotion of the Economic Development of Northeast Sichuan Economic Zone, Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Transformation and Upgrading of the Panxi Economic Zone and the Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Construction of the Ecological Demonstration Zone in Northwest Sichuan. These documents havelaid out clear guidance on the development goals and paths of the five major economic zones.
According to the Implementation Opinions, the recent development goals of the five major economic zones are designed to be accomplished by "2022". By 2022, the regional GDP of the Chengdu Plain Economic Zone is to exceed 3.5 trillion yuan, with the urbanization rate of permanent residents reaching 68%; the overall economic volume of the South Sichuan Economic Zone will approach 1 trillion yuan, initially establishing the second economic growth pole of the province, an important gateway to the south and the regional economic center of the Sichuan-Chongqing-Yunnan-Guizhou Economic Union; the regional GDP of the northeastern Sichuan Economic Zone is to exceed 900 billion yuan, emerging as a sub economic center of the province; the economic aggregate of the Panxi Economic Zone is to reach 400 billion yuan; the Northwest Sichuan Ecological Demonstration Zone will initially put in place the National Ecological Construction Demonstration Zone, the National Global Tourism Demonstration Zone, and the National Model of Unity and Progress.
According to the five Implementation Opinions, “County Economy Development” will serve as a major focus in the future. For example, the Chengdu Plain Economic Zone will promote the high-quality development of the county economy, strengthen areas of weaknesses in infrastructure construction, support qualified counties to set up cities from counties, and turn counties into districts to enhance the self-development capabilities of counties. The South Sichuan Economic Zone will accelerate the development of the county economy, and strive to create a number of strong counties in terms of economic development, progressive counties, advanced counties and Tianfu tourism counties, and build a number of livable counties, feature towns and villages.
