On September 14th, the 19th Singapore-Sichuan Trade and Investment Committee was held in Chengdu. Mr. Yin Li, Vice Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC, Governor of People’s Government of Sichuan Province, and Wong Chi-minh, Minister of the Prime Minister's Office of Singapore, attended the committee and unveiled the Singapore Innovation Center of Singapore-Sichuan High-Tech Innovation Park together.

　　In his speech, Mr. Yin Li said that Sichuan and Singapore have a long history of exchanges. In recent years, cooperation on the two sides has been deepened in various fields with broad prospects for future cooperation. It is hoped that the two sides will seize the opportunity of the "Belt and Road" construction, carry out the spirit of the leaders' talks between the two countries, consolidate our original cooperation achievements, and follow the requirements of the new era to jointly promote the mutual-beneficial cooperation to a new height. Mr. Yin Li made four suggestions: First, the two sides shall share cooperation opportunities more efficiently. It is hoped that the two sides will strengthen strategic communication and improve information sharing to promote infrastructure connectivity, deepen cooperation and exchanges in economy and trade, and to jointly promote prosperity and development. Sichuan wants to use the advantages of Singapore to develop international markets such as Southeast Asia and South Asia. Second, the two sides shall secure across-the-board cooperation. Sichuan warmly welcomes everyone from all sectors of Singapore to participate in industrial development, reform of state-owned enterprises, resource development and utilization, and infrastructure construction of Sichuan. It encourages cooperation on the two sides in innovation, entrepreneurship, scientific research, medical and health care, higher education, cultural tourism and other fields, so as to secure a sound relation between Singapore and Sichuan. Third, the two sides shall provide better services for the development of enterprises. It is hoped that the two sides will support each other's enterprises to develop in the local area, and help them solve the difficulties, thus enabling them to settle in and flourish. Fourth, the two sides shall give better play of mechanisms. The role of the platform, Singapore-Sichuan Trade and Investment Committee, shall continue to be tapped to promote regular exchanges of high-level leaders, during which we can formulate cooperation plans for economic and trade investment, communicate with each other to resolve specific difficulties and problems regularly, and establish a normal mechanism for mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. In particular, the Singapore-Sichuan High-Tech Innovation Park shall be built into a “landmark” to deepen cooperation, and attract more domestic and foreign enterprises.

　　In his speech, Mr. Wong Chi-minh said that he is very delighted to have the opportunity to discuss the prospects and vision of Sichuan-Singapore development with Sichuan and to jointly push the cooperation to a new height. Since the establishment of the Singapore-Sichuan Trade and Investment Committee for 22 years, economic and trade exchanges and cooperation on the two sides have been advanced by leaps and bounds, laying a good foundation for future economic and trade cooperation. Sichuan has become one of the top investment destinations for Singapore's enterprises.

　　As one of the major provinces in western China, Sichuan plays an important role in the construction of the “Belt and Road”. Singapore hopes to strengthen cooperation with Sichuan in infrastructure, trade and financial services, and in the “going out” of enterprises. Not least, it will seize the opportunities of the construction of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport and the Sichuan Pilot Free Trade Zone, so as to promote the in-depth cooperation of on the two sides. We are willing to work with Sichuan to carry out exploration in trade facilitation, financial services and investment policies with the Sichuan Pilot Free Trade Zone. Sichuan is implementing the program of “Going Global for Thousands of Enterprises”. As a fulcrum country for the “Belt and Road” construction, Singapore is willing to help Sichuan enterprises to “go global” and hopes that more enterprises of Sichuan will take Singapore as a bridge for their international expansion.

　　At the committee, a special seminar themed on “New Economy and New Opportunities” and a signing ceremony for the cooperation project between Singapore and Sichuan Enterprises were held.

　　Mr. Peng Yuxing, Vice Governor of People’s Government of Sichuan Province, presided over the committee. Mr. Li Yunze, Member of the Party Group of the Provincial Government, and relevant person responsible for the departments and enterprises of Singapore and Sichuan, attended the committee.
