On September 15th, with the departure of DJ8862 high-speed train from Chengdu East Railway Station and its arrival at Xi'an North Railway Station, the experiment of “one bill-of-lading” for air-rail integrated transportation on the Xi'an-Chengdu High-Speed Railway successfully launched its first trial. This is the first project of cross-border intermodal transportation that has been implemented since the finalization of a strategic cooperation agreement on air-rail integration in May of this year between China Railway Corporation and Civil Aviation Administration of China.

　　The relevant person in charge of the China Railway Chengdu Group introduced that the first batch of cross-border goods has 139 items including Hong Kong's clothes. After entering China through the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, these items are transported by train to Chengdu East Railway Station from the Shuangliu West Station. Together with other goods, they are transported by "high-speed inspection trains" of Xi'an-Chengdu High-Speed Railway and sent to Xi'an. Currently, the goods have all been delivered to customers.

　　Every morning, railway departments will drive a “high-speed inspection train” on high-speed railways including Xi'an-Chengdu High-Speed Railway, Chengdu-Chongqing High-speed Railway and Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway to confirm the security of these lines. This “high-speed inspection train” is different from other CRHs. It is operated “passenger-free". The railway department uses the "passenger-free" train to load goods, maximizing the logistics efficiency by transporting small items by high-speed railway. This time, railway departments used the "high-speed inspection train" of Xi'an-Chengdu High-Speed Railway to test the air-rail intermodal transportation, which has not only maximized the operation efficiency, but also examined and perfected the logistics model of "one bill-of-lading", thus contributing to the promotion and application of this model. By filling in the “air-rail intermodal transportation order” once only, the clients can enjoy the complete logistics chain of “door to door” transportation service.

　　"Currently, we are considering making the Shuangliu International Airport and Shuangliu West Station as the transportation hub for air-rail integration and rendering the international routes of Sichuan Airlines and the Xi'an-Chengdu High-Speed Railway as the channel to launch more trials of multi-modal transported products, mainly attracting high value-added sources which use Chengdu as the transit place, and are transported by the international routes of Sichuan Airlines with their destination being Xi'an.” The person in charge said that the successful trial operation of the project will open the construction mode and operation flow of the multimodal transportation with cargo terminal of airlines and cargo terminal of high-speed railway as the core. It has also paved way for the general application of the round-trip operated “high-speed inspection trains” which will help to transport cargos, contributing to the regular operation of products transported by “high-speed railways + airlines”.
