On August 2st, Mr. Wang Yihong, Vice Governor of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, met with Mr. Quesada, Peru's new ambassador to China, in Chengdu.
Mr. Wang Yihong said that Peru enjoyed a long history of exchanges with China with its splendid culture, rich resources, and hospitable people. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1971, the two sides had continuously deepened their cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, trade and humanities, contributing to a stable, healthy and sustainable bilateral relation. The newly appointed ambassador’s prompt visit to Sichuan highlighted his concern for Sichuan and the importance attached to the exchanges between the two sides. It was our common aspiration that Sichuan and Peru will increase cooperation in high-level reciprocal visits, trade and investment, cultural exchanges, and friendship city construction to promote more fruitful results in local exchanges and pragmatic cooperation. He also offered sincere invitation to Peru’s delegation to participate in the Western China International Fair, High-Tech Expo and other activities to be held in Sichuan next month.
Mr. Quesada said that China was an important partner of Peru and Sichuan was an important province for such cooperation with China. Sichuan and Peru enjoyed a good foundation of exchanges with both similarities and complementarities in their industries. It was hoped that the two sides would continue to expand pragmatic cooperation in education, culture and agriculture in the future.
Mr. Niu Xiaofeng, Deputy Secretary General of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, and Mr. Zhang Yechu, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs, attended the meeting.
