Updated:2018.07.04

On July 1, Mr. Yin Li, Vice Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC and Governor of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, investigated the work of the cultural relics in Meishan and Chengdu. He emphasized the need to thoroughly implement Xi Jinping’s thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and to conscientiously implement the decisions and deployment made in the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Provincial Party Committee, according to which, we should use the historical and cultural advantages of Sichuan on the basis of strengthening the protection of cultural relics, rationally utilize and promote their comprehensive benefits, enhance the cultural capability as well as high-quality economic and social development of our province, and continuously satisfying the people’s growing needs for a better life. .

In Chenyin Site of Jiangkou Town, Pengshan District, Meishan City, Yin Li investigated its excavation and protection. In Sichuan Museum and Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, he investigated the development of cultural relics exhibition, protection and restoration, pointing out that our province has a rich history and culture, plentiful cultural relics, hence a major responsibility to protecting heritages, inherit culture, and develop cultural industries. The governments at all levels and relevant government departments must perform their management and supervision duties in accordance with the law, continuously improve the level of protection, management and utilization of cultural relics, so that cultural relics protection can benefit the people more, and the comprehensive benefits of cultural relics can be brought to a greater extent.

It is necessary to further strengthen the protection of cultural relics, comprehensively enhance the compilation and implementation of its protection planning, effectively adopt scientific and technological equipment, encourage the mobilization of social forces to participate in the protection of cultural relics, strictly prevent and effectively combat cultural  crimes, so as to make the valuable heritages pass on from generation to generation and retain the traces of history and roots of civilization. Under the premise of strict protection, we should organize the exhibition and display of cultural relics, build well-managed venues, gradually optimize its environment, innovate exhibition ways, improve exhibition quality, and let the cultural relics “sleeping in the warehouses” live lively. We should give full play to the public cultural services and social education functions of cultural relics. It is necessary to rationally and moderately develop the industries related to cultural relics, deepen their historical and cultural elements, actively mobilize market forces, develop cultural creative and tourism products based on characteristic cultural relics resources, enrich cultural supply, and promote cultural consumption, so as to better serve the transformation and upgrading of the local economy.

Mr. Tang Limin, Secretary General of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government and provincial department heads participated in the investigation.
