On the morning of June 28, a train carrying 50 TEUs left Qinzhou Port in Guangxi Province, and in 60 hours, this first “Beibu Gulf Port-Yibin” containerized sea-rail train will arrive at Yibin North Railway Station. This is the first return train following the one leaving Yibin towards Beibu Gulf Port on May 22, which marks the opening of Sichuan’s most convenient southward two-way channel to the sea.
The goods in the 50 TEUs are mainly stone plate imported from Iranian Bandar Abbas and northeastern corn transferred from Yingkou and Qinzhou Port to Yibin. After reaching Yibin, they will be distributed to customers by road and water.
According to the plan, one freight train is running from Qinzhou to Yibin per week. Liu Zhengyu, Chairman and General Manager of Sichuan Yibin Port (Group) Co., Ltd., said that containerized trains from Beibu Gulf Port to Yibin have opened up a new path for Sichuan Province and Guangxi Province to radiate the countries and regions along Maritime Silk Road of the 21st Century and fully develop markets of Southeast Asia, South Asia and Europe.
