Mr. Peng Qinghua and Mr. Yin Li Meeting with Austrian Guests

  On April 11th, Mr. Peng Qinghua, Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC, and Mr. Yin Li, Vice Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC, Governor of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, met with Austrian President Van Der Bellen, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and their delegations in Chengdu.

  Mr. Peng Qinghua welcomed the visit of Mr. Van Der Bellen, Mr. Kurz and their delegations to Sichuan, and congratulated on the opening of the Austrian Consulate General in Chengdu. Mr. Peng Qinghua said that the visit of the high-level government delegation of Chancellor and a number of ministers led by President as well as large-scale delegations of enterprises and science, technology and culture fully reflected their positive attitude and willingness to deepen collaboration with Sichuan. Sichuan is a province with a large population, abundant resources, prosperous economy, and excellent education, science, technology, culture and tourism. Therefore, it has a vast space and great potential for strengthening friendly exchanges and cooperation with Austria. Sichuan Province is willing to take the opportunity of the visit of President and the opening of the Austrian Consulate General in Chengdu to further strengthen exchanges between local governments and enterprises, deepen cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, education, science and technology, culture, tourism, and corporate management, and promote exchanges among advanced companies of electronic information, equipment manufacturing, automobile manufacturing, clean energy, and environmental protection, so as to promote the mutual friendly and cooperative relations to a newer and higher level, and make positive contributions to the in-depth development of the China-Australian strategic partnership.

  Mr. Van Der Bellen said that it was a pleasure for him to visit Sichuan. This time, Austria has sent high-level and highly-qualified delegations to our province, fully demonstrating that the Austrian government and all walks of their lives are full of confidence in the economic and social development of Sichuan and are enthusiastic about deepening cooperation with our province. With the continuous advancement of the "Belt and Road Initiative", Austria and Sichuan are enjoying greater prospects for cooperation in the fields of environmental protection, culture, tourism, science and technology, and education. Austria will work with Sichuan to continue the support of establishing friendly relations among cities in relevant regions, strengthen exchanges at all levels, conduct equal and reciprocal cooperation, and promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields for more practical results.

  Dr. Christoph Leitl, Chairman of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, Dr. Stift, Austrian Ambassador to China, Mr. Alexander Marschik, Director of European Immigrant Integration and the Department of Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Bettina Kirnbauer, Consultant of President’s Foreign Affairs, Mr. Korschil, Director of the President's Office, and Ms. Kaudel-Jensen, Consultant of Chancellor's Foreign Affairs, Mr. Starlinger, Lieutenant of President, Ms. Regina, Austrian Minister in China, Mr. Huyck, Press Spokesman of President, and Mr. Weisel, Director of Chancellor’s Office attended the meeting; Mr. Li Xiaosi, Chinese Ambassador to Austria, Mr. Zeng Fanhua, Counselor of the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Yan Hualong, Counselor of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Provincial leaders of Mr. Fan Ruiping, Mr. Wang Minghui and Mr. Zhu Hexin attended the meeting.
