In this year, Sichuan Province will compensate for 5.515 million hectares of collectives’ and individuals’commonweal forests with a total subsidy of 1.22 billion yuan. Recently, Sichuan Provincial Forestry Department announced the implementation scheme of this year's natural forest protection program.

　　In order to ensure that farmers get full and timely subsidies, our province will fully implement the responsibility system of chief executive and target management this year in the natural forest protection project. The Provincial Forestry Department will sign the target responsibility statement with all levels of government and forestry departments. At the same time, a three-level inspection and acceptance system--- self-check of counties (bureaus) that implement it, selective checks of cities (prefectures) and review of provincial departments --- will be adopted.

　　In 1998, the natural forest protection project was officially launched in Sichuan Province. Since then, commercial logging has been forbidden for all natural forests in Sichuan. For collectives’ and individuals’commonweal forests (natural forests) that will never be cut, ecological compensation will be used to increase the income of farmers and collectives.
