In the morning of Feb. 6, Sichuan Provincial Public Security Department held a Spring Festival Safety Press Briefing of "report to the people". Our eporters have learned at the meeting that in 2017, a total of 7,774 road traffic accidents occurred in general procedures in Sichuan Province, a decrease of 491 cases over the same period of last year. There were no serious road accidents involving over 10 deaths.

　　It has been learned that, as of Feb. 5, 2018, 21 cities and prefectures in Sichuan Province are all available for applying for the motor vehicle diver’s license examination on the Internet, thusthe examination resources have an equitable distribution and the interest chain of the exam is cut off.A total of 17.41 million people have applied for theexams online in our province. There are 156 examination field of subject 2, 138 fields of subject 3, and 86 counties can hold examination containing all subjects for small-sized automobiles. There are 4,145 people applying for driver's license exam of large- and medium-sized bus and truck and 96,345 re-applying, replacing or inspecting their licenses outside Sichuan. 954,285 vehicles from other places passed inspections; 3,056 people with monocular visual impairment or upper limb disability have applied for driver's license examination. All indicates that people are getting more and more convenient service.As one of the 16 pilot cities in China, Chengdu has piloted a "self-studytest"for driver's licenseapplication. At present, Chengdu Vehicle Administration has accepted 127 people registering for self-studytest and issued a special identification for 88 people.64 people have got their driver's licenses.

　　According to statistics, there are more than 14.73 millionmotor vehicles andover 21.58 million drivers in Sichuan Province, ranks 7 and 5 respectively in the whole country. In 2017, a total of 21.35 million vehicleaffaireswere handled.

　　Officials of the Traffic Police Corps of Sichuan Provincial Public Security Department said that as of Feb. 5, the province has checked and issuedmore than 4.79 millioninspection-free  marks. Since Oct. 9, 2017, our province has handled more than 1.08 million pieces of vehicle plate number choosingby the new system. Since the launch of the online service platform of quick dealing and compensation for road traffic accident in Dec. 2017, our province has accepted 1808 cases of road traffic accident. In Chengdu, a total of 18,847 plate numbers of new energy vehicles were selected and 77 fast service centers (spots) for traffic accidents were properly built among 21 cities (prefectures).
