Mr. Yin Li: Promoting the High Quality Development of the Grain Industry

  On December 3rd, Mr. Yin Li, Vice Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC, Governor of People’s Government of Sichuan Province, emphasized the necessity to implement to the letter the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping who urged the Chinese people to grasp the means of our livelihood in our own hands when conducting the inspection and investigation work of food security. Yin also requested us to carry out the deployments of central and provincial committees, assume our due food security responsibilities and put in place the system for cultivated land protection. This will help us improve our capabilities in food production, reserves, circulation, quality and safety, which would in return ensure the grain, oil and food security in our province and promote the high-quality development of the grain industry.

  Mr. Yin Li went to the Provincial Control Center for Grain and Oil Reserve in Xindu District of Chengdu. He entered the warehouse which holds grains in low-temperature to check the grain reserves. He asked about the condition concerning the application of modern storage technology and inspection methods for quality. He came into the central control room of the control center to check the real-time information management of various indicators such as grain temperature and humidity. He urged enterprises to strengthen cooperation with scientific research institutions so as to deliver more standardized management to provide the people with quality grain and oil.

  During his field research, Mr. Yin Li stressed that all relevant departments in the province should implement exactly the national strategic deployment of food security, adhere to the problem-oriented mechanism, and decentralize powers to lower departments with clear divisions. We should deliver a good job in food production, circulation, processing, storage, consumption and others, and improve the grain quality and safety inspection system to offer traceable data covering the whole process from cultivation to human consumption. That is how we can hold the bottom line of food security. We must continue to deepen the supply side structural reform of grain, increase green and high-quality food supply, cultivate a number of food brands that are well-known throughout the country, strive to develop grain deep processing, strengthen the cold chain logistics, continue to improve the comprehensive benefits of grain production and promote the high-quality development of the grain industry. It is of great importance to construct a talent team in the grain industry with improved professional qualifications. Relevant departments at the provincial level should offer more support and coordination to form a strong synergy for safety food production.
