On the afternoon of November 4th, before the opening of the first China International Import Expo, our province held the Sichuan Province - Multinational Corporation Supply Chain Matchmaking Meeting in Shanghai. Dozens of Fortune 500 companies and heads of multinational companies have been gathered together to negotiate plans for development. Mr. Peng Qinghua, Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. On behalf of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, he welcomed the guests present at the meeting and expressed his gratitude to the friends at home and abroad who have long been concerned about and supported Sichuan's development.

　　In his speech, Mr. Peng Qinghua pointed out that the China International Import Expo was proposed, initiated and deployed by President Xi Jinping. This Expo is a major decision of China as part of its push for high-level opening-up. It is also a major measure for China to promote economic globalization and support the multilateral trading system. It has become the vehicle of China to declare to the world that "its reform and opening-up are non-stopping." It has demonstrated China’s determination, confidence and responsibility. Moreover, it has reflected the influence of the Chinese market, the attractiveness of Chinese opportunities, and the appeal of the Chinese program. All of this will help parties around the world to better share the high-quality development dividend of the Chinese economy and promote the development of an open world economy, thus enabling them to work together for a mutually beneficial and win-win prospect.

　　Mr. Peng Qinghua pointed out that multinational corporations are an important driving force in economic globalization and an essential participant, witness, contributor and beneficiary of China's reform and opening-up. For a long time, Sichuan has attached great importance to exchanges and cooperation with multinational corporations by fully integrating the capital, technology, management and brand advantages of multinational corporations with Sichuan's resource endowments, industrial bases and consumer markets. As such, it has promoted the match and cooperation of supply chain, which has greatly enhanced the level of openness in our province.

　　Mr. Peng Qinghua pointed out that Sichuan has made two deployments internally and externally which are in line with the trend of economic globalization as well as the direction assigned by President Xi Jinping. It has been making concerted efforts to accelerate the construction of a new regional development pattern featuring “one main area and multiple auxiliaries, coordinated development among five areas” and a strategic opening-up deployment of “four-direction expansion and across-the-board opening-up”, the latter wishes to push forward opening-up and cooperation. That will provide potential for a rosy picture in deepening the cooperation between Sichuan and multinational companies in all fields. We are willing to share the opportunities in the consumer market to expand imports in the fields of automobiles, electronic products, agricultural products and seafood, which will better meet the people's needs for a better life. We are willing to share the opportunities brought about by industrial transformation. By focusing on the "5+1" industry development model of electronic information, equipment manufacturing, food and beverage, advanced materials, energy and chemical industry, and digital economy, we will increase the introduction of advanced equipment, launch high-end cooperation projects, in an effort to integrate Sichuan more closely into the global industry chain, value chain and supply chain. We are willing to share the innovation opportunities in the field of science and technology. We will strengthen scientific and technological cooperation with other countries in areas such as artificial intelligence, low-carbon environmental protection, health care, disaster prevention and mitigation, so as to improve the level of innovation and development. We are willing to share the opportunity of free trade pilot zones. We have promoted the construction of various national parks to achieve material gains, strengthened the cooperation with China Railway Express (Chengdu- Europe Express Railway) in cargo clearance, source organization, and currency settlement, so as to create an inland vantage point in opening-up as soon as possible. We will be committed to provide you with a market-oriented, internationalized and legalized business environment as well as convenient living conditions. This way, we will work together to create a bright future of mutual-beneficial and win-win development.

　　At the Matchmaking Meeting, Mr. Han Shengjian, Vice Director of the Foreign Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, and Lord Sassoon, Chairman of the China-Britain Trade Association, delivered speeches respectively. The relevant departments of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce and Chengdu Municipality have introduced the international cooperation opportunities presented by Sichuan’s industrial system and promoted the opening-up potential of Chengdu City. Mr. Park Keun-Tae, President of South Korea's CJ Group Logistics, Mr. Adams, Global Vice President of F1 Management, and Mr. Li Shuguang, Chairman of Yibin Wuliangye Group, delivered speeches respectively. Seven project cooperation agreements were signed at the site, including smart manufacturing, automobile and parts manufacturing, big data, cultural tourism, agricultural and sideline products trade.

　　Before the Matchmaking Meeting, Mr. Peng Qinghua met with the representatives of world's top 500 companies from the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, South Korea, and Japan, as well as with the heads of well-known multinational companies to exchange views on deepening pragmatic cooperation and achieving mutual benefit.

　　Mr. Li Yunze, Vice Governor of People’s Government of Sichuan Province, presided over the Matchmaking Meeting. Present at the meeting includes more than 50 Fortune 500 companies, leaders of well-known multinational corporations, representatives of international business associations and foreign-invested enterprises in China. Mr. Fan Liping, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Chengdu Municipal Committee, heads of relevant provincial departments (units), and the relevant persons in charge of Chengdu, Deyang, Yibin and Meishan Municipal Government have participated in the meeting.
