On October 29th, the Giant Panda National Park Administration was established in Chengdu of Sichuan Province. Mr. Zhang Jianlong, Director of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and Mr. Yin Li, Vice Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC, Governor of People’s Government of Sichuan Province, announced the unveiling of the Administration.

　　According to the relevant regulations of the State, the Chengdu Office for Forest Resources Supervisor of the National Administration of Forestry and Grassland has added the plaque of Giant Panda National Park Administration to its billboard, and assumed the management responsibility for natural resources and land usage. The Forestry Departments of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces have added its own plaque of the Giant Panda National Park Administration respectively to its billboard, and are now subject to the guidance of the Giant Panda National Park Administration. Vertical management has been secured by several bureaus and management offices established under the provincial level.

　　The Giant Panda National Park stretches across 12 cities (prefectures) and 29 counties (cities, districts) in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, covering a total area of 27,134km2. Of which, the habitat for giant pandas takes up 18,150km2, with 1614 distributed giant pandas in the wild, accounted for 70.66% and 86.59% of the corresponding national total. Sichuan National Park for Giant Pandas covers an area of 20,200km2, accounting for 74.4% of the national total. It encompasses 19 counties (cities, districts) in 7 cities (prefectures) including Chengdu, Deyang, Mianyang, Ya'an, Guangyuan, Meishan and Aba, providing shelters of 14,430km2 for 1205 wild giant pandas, accounting for 79.5% and 74.6% of the respective national total.

　　Before the unveiling ceremony, Mr. Zhang Jianlong and Mr. Yin Li visited the Exhibition of Pilot Achievements of the Giant Panda National Park, and listened to the report on the progress of key works.

　　Mr. Li Chunliang, Deputy Director of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, delivered a speech. Relevant national ministries and commissions, responsible persons of relevant departments of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu attended the unveiling event.
