The Second Cross-Straits Industrial Cooperation Zone Settled in Sichuan

  On December 27th, the 2017 Symposium of National Taiwan Association’s Presidents was held in Chengdu. In the meeting, Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Commerce announced the establishment of the second cross-strait industrial cooperation zone in Sichuan, and the CPC Central Committee of Taiwan Affairs and Mr.Zhang Zhijun, Director of Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council  authorized it. Mr. Yin Li, Vice Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC, Governor of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government and Mr. Deng Xiaogang, Vice Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC attended the event.

  Mr. Zhang Zhijun said in his speech that the 19th National Congress of CPC has summarized the work and historical changes of the past five years, established the historical status of the thought of Xi Jinping, put forward the basic strategy of the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and painted the grand blueprint on the future development of China’s mainland, which is of great importance for both the development of China’s mainland and the future of cross-strait relations. The report of the19th National Congress of CPC put forward clear requirements for policies on Taiwan, including the prime aim, basic principles, main tasks, fundamental rules and clear red line. We will resolutely implement the fundamental policies on Taiwan, safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity and will never tolerate the repetition of historic tragedy of secession of China. Mr. Zhang Zhijun reviewed the mainland’s support of Taiwan enterprises, introduced ideas on future work and expressed his wishes that Taiwan enterprises and Taiwan Associations around China would continue to make new contributions to safeguarding and promoting the peaceful development of cross-strait relations with confidence.

  Mr. Yin Li, on behalf of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC and Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, welcomed guests attending the meeting. He said the official approval of the cross-strait industrial cooperation zone was a new opportunity for the development of Sichuan which could promote the cooperation between Sichuan and Taiwan to a new level. We will further implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of CPC. Taiwan and China’s mainland are a family, so we are to share reform and development opportunities with Taiwan compatriots, further expanding cooperation in industry and other fields to deepen cultural exchanges, so as to jointly promote our cooperation to a higher level. We will start from the enhancement of factor allocation, the strengthening of policy support and the optimization of administrative environment to build this zone into a demonstration platform and a good carrier of Taiwan enterprises participating in the “the Belt and Road” construction, the in-depth cross-strait industrial cooperation and theaggregation development of Taiwan funded enterprises. We sincerely welcome you to visit Sichuan for more in-depth understanding of it and invest in it with promotion. We also look forward to your valuable opinions and suggestions for the construction of the Cross-Strait Industrial Cooperation Zone, thus promoting the peaceful development of cross-strait relations and making new and greater contributions to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

  In the meeting, the Taiwan Affairs Office of Sichuan Province signed Construction Cooperation Agreement of Cross Strait Industrial Cooperation Zone with the Sichuan branch of China Development Bank and of the Export and Import Bank of China. According to the agreement, the two banks will give full play to their financing advantages and provide support for the construction and development of this zone as well as the integration of Taiwan funded enterprises so as to create a good investment and financing environment. The Cross-Strait Industrial Cooperation Zone has three gardens, namely Chengdu Industrial Park, Deyang Industrial Park and Meishan Industrial Park. Leaders of three parks gave a presentation respectively.

  Mr. Lai Zhengyi, Chairman of Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Lin Bofeng, Chairman of CNAIC, Mr.WangPingsheng, President of the National Taiwan Association, Mr. Zhu Hexin, Vice Governor of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, together with officials of Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, National Development and Reform Commission, National Ministry of Commerce attended the meeting and activities.
