On January10th, our reporter has learned from Sichuan Provincial Department of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs that Austria would set up a Consulate General in Chengdu.

　　On the same day, the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the 2017 annual consular work-briefing conference for domestic media. When it came to actively accepting foreign consular offices set in China, Mr. GuoShaochun, Director of the Consular Department, said that an agreement had been reached on the establishment of the Austria’s Consulate General in Chengdu.

　　Up to now, 17 consular institutions have been approved to set in Sichuan, ranking the first in Central and Western China.
