On September 14th, Sichuan Provincial People’s Government and Saint Petersburg Municipal Government signed economic, trade, technical, and cultural cooperation agreement in Chengdu. Mr. Yin Li, Vice Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC and Governor of Sichuan Provincial People's Government, Mr. Georgy Poltavchenko, Governor of Saint Petersburg, on behalf of Sichuan and Saint Petersburg, signed the agreement.
According to the agreement, Saint Petersburg and Sichuan will cooperate with each other in fields including pharmaceutical industry, chemical industries, precise instruments, machinery manufacturing, food processing, road traffic, house construction and so on, jointly consolidate and deepen cooperation in education, health care, literature, publishing, film, radio, television, tourism, sports, and other fields, promote exchanges in different art forms including art exhibition and art tours and so on, and further enhance mutual association between scientific institutes.
Before signing the agreement, Governor Yin Li also met with Governor Poltavchenko. Governor Yin Li mentioned that Saint Petersburg and Sichuan had great potential in cooperation and hoped that both sides could establish more closer exchange platforms based on sound cooperative foundation, open more convenient logistics channels, enhance companies and institutes to conduct more in-depth economic cooperation and cultural exchanges, and promote mutual cooperation relationship onto new steps. Governor Poltavchenko said that in recent years the exchanges between Russian and Chinese local governments had been increasingly closer. Saint Petersburg had always valued the cooperation with Sichuan and hoped to further expand cooperative fields and deepen cooperative contents. Saint Petersburg was willing to serve as bridge for Sichuan companies to go to Europe and share opportunities of “Belt and Road” initiative.
Mr. Denisov, Ambassador of Russian Federation In China, and Mr. Tang Limin, Secretary General of the People’s Government of Sichuan Province, also attended the agreement signing ceremony and the meeting.
