The import and export of goods of our province have grown by over 50% from January to May, continuing this year's rapid growth trend. Among them, the import and export value in May has hit a record high since February of 2015. According to the statistics from Chengdu Customs, the trade between our province and some “Belt and Road” countries has increased by several times on year-on-year basis, including vehicle trade in May.

　　The statistics also show that from January to May, the foreign trade value of Sichuan has reached 167.19 billion yuan, an increase of 54.1% over the same period of last year. Among them, exports were 86.31 billion yuan, an increase of 46.4% and imports 80.88 billion yuan, an increase of 63.3%. In May, import and export value of Sichuan were 38.65 billion yuan, representing an increase of 61.2% on year-on-year basis and a 20.9% growth compared with that of last month, hitting a new record since February 2015. Among them, exports were 21.67 billion yuan, a new high since March 2015 with an increase of 72.2% compared with last year.

　　Zhang Ju, Head of the Statistics Office of Chengdu Customs Statistics Office, analyzed that the accelerated recovery momentum of the global economy this year, better external market demand as well as the "Belt and Road Initiative " are the primary factors for the huge growth foreign trade in Sichuan. From January to May, foreign trade with the United States, EU and ASEAN -- Sichuan's top three trading partners, have achieved two digit growth, among which trade with ASEAN has surged by 1.6 times. Besides, our trade with Israel, Egypt, Romania, and Iraq has also increased by several times, and import and export with Iraq has jumped by 9.3 times. Enterprises in Sichuan actively developed contracted engineering projects with "Belt and Road" countries, and in the same period, imports and exports value of goods in foreign contracted projects was 1.68 billion yuan, surging by 1.2 times. With stronger momentum in May, our foreign trade with the United States, ASEAN, EU and "Belt and Road" countries respectively increased by 41.9%, 1.8x, 88.3% and 1.1 times.

　　The gathering effect of the electronic information industry has been further revealed. With the substantial releasing of production capacity of major projects, the export of machinery and electrical products in Sichuan has been growing rapidly. In the first 4 months of this year, the import and export of electronic information industry has grown by 60.2%, significantly higher than that of the overall import and export growth over the same period in the whole province. In May, the growth rate of foreign trade in electronic information products further increased to 71%. According to the foreign trade data in May, 5 of the top 10 import and export enterprises are electronic information companies or its related enterprises.

　　In addition, with the upgrading of consumption of the whole province, the construction of “Chengdu-Europe Fast Train” and open port has made significant progress. In May, the import of automobile has grown by 5.8 times, medical apparatus and instruments 1 time, and cosmetics 4.7 times.
