On May 12, Sichuan Province has signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation with Lavalleja Department of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in Chengdu. Yin Li, Vice Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Sichuan Province, and Peña, Intendant of Lavalleja Department, signed the Memo as the representatives.

　　According to the Memo, the two parties will make common effort to promote high-level visits between the governments and intensify cooperation in economy, trade, agriculture, farming, food processing, education, and other areas with shared interests.

　　Before signing the Memo, Yin Li had met with Peña and the delegation. Both parties hoped that, by taking the Memo as a new starting point, a new chapter for mutual benefits and win-win cooperation would be ushered in.
