During the Spring Festival, Yaxi Expressway has suffered from severe congestion. While good news has come on the first working day after the Spring Festival. Leshan-Xichang Expressway will be expected to construct within 2017. After competition, there will be 2 expressways between Chengdu and Xichang. The congestion of Yaxi Expressway will be effectively eased. Meanwhile, this expressway will also benefit the tourism as well as economic and social development of Panxi Region.
Leshan-Xichang Expressway is 254 km in total with investment of 39.4 billion yuan. The expressway starts from Leshan, passes through Shizhong District, Shawan District, Wutongqiao District, Muchuan County, and Mabian County of Leshan, Leibo County and Meigu County of Liangshan, ends at Zhaojue County, and links with Xichang through Xichang-Zhaotong Expressway. The total length of expressway between Chengdu, Leshan and Xichang will extend to about 400 km, the same length of expressway between Chengdu, Ya'an and Xichang.
Recently, Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC and Sichuan Provincial People's Government have studied and determined Key Project List of Sichuan in 2017. There are 700 projects enlisted into the the key project list, a new record in terms of project number.
In order to drive project construction and accelerate the economic and social development, Sichuan has started to establish Sichuan Key Project Construction Leading Group to determine a batch of key projects ranging from 200 to 500 in number. 2016 is the first Project Year in Sichuan with the number of key projects of 631. Sichuan will develop the activity of Project Year in 2017 with continuous growth in key project number to 700.
The total investment of these 700 provincial key projects will reach about 3.99 trillion yuan with annual investment of 460 billion yuan. There are 433 continuous constructed projects with planned investment of 2.59 trillion yuan in total and 343.4 billion yuan of annual expected investment. 267 new projects will be started to construct with total investment of 1.4 trillion yuan. There will be 60 projects which will be completed and started to produce in 2017.
In terms of project number, industrial projects still dominate majority. 361 industrial projects account for over 50% of the total key projects with planned total investment of 1.78 trillion yuan. In terms of investment volume, infrastructure projects still dominate. The total planned investment for 247 infrastructure projects amounts for 1.79 trillion yuan with annual planned investment of 200 billion yuan.
There are 14 expressway projects among these planned new projects, including Chengdu-Xining Expressway, Xigong-Yibin Section of Southern Sichuan Intercity Railway, Chengdu Tianfu International Airport to Zigong Railway, Chongqing-Kunming Railway and so on.
Chengdu-Xining Railway starts from Xining, passes through Haidong, Huangnan Tibet Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province, Gannan Tibet Autonomous Prefecture of Gansu Province, Aba Tibet and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province, links with Huangsheng Station of Chengdu-Lanzhou Railway, and shares with Chengdu-Lanzhou Railway in construction. The newly constructed railway amounts to about 530 km.
