Sichuan Will Increase 5 Million Mu Tea Trees

  5th China Sichuan Tea Leaves Picking Week will be held at Naxi District, Luzhou on February 18th. 2017 10th China Yibin Early Tea Festival will be held recently. Sichuan tea industry in 2017 is starting from the early spring tea in Southern Sichuan.

  Spring tea leaves are usually picked in early February, about 15-30 days earlier than other tea regions in Sichuan and the tea regions in Zhejiang and Jiangsu at the same latitude. This is one of early spring tea producing regions in China. On February 6th, tea picking farmers at Miaozu Town of Wenxing County have picked up the earliest spring tea leaves. On February 10th, Sichuan Tea Group has produced the first batch of early tea about 50 kg per day. Recent days, the strategic cooperation between Tianfu Longya and the Dialogue Column of CCTV has been officially launched.

  In recent years, Sichuan tea industry has taken continuous measures to expand market. In 2014, Sichuan Provincial People’s Government has focused on tea industries of over 100 billion yuan by 2020 by No.1 Document. Sichuan has increased 5 million mu tea trees in 2017 with the tea production of 300,000 tons and comprehensive value of 60 billion yuan. Last year, Sichuan has released “1+6 Plan Scheme” to achieve supply side reform in agriculture, highlight on tea industry, and specify to achieve the machinery picking rate of over 50% by increasing 30%, machinery producing rate increasing 5%, and excellency rate increasing 10%, and create “Tianfu Longya” and other provincial regional brands. Relevant responsible officials from Sichuan Provincial Agriculture Department have revealed that Sichuan will focus on supply side reform, highlight the construction of standard machinery picking bases, and concentrate on the brand making of Tianfu Longya and other important activities.

  Now, Wang Xihong, responsible manager of tea leaves base of Sichuan Tea Group, is selecting machinery picking bases of 30,000 mu which will be started constructed soon. According to the machinery picking project promotion schemes released by Sichuan, by 2020 Sichuan will construct 2.5 million mu tea leaves standard machinery picking bases. Sichuan will focus on 20 major counties and complete the construction of 600,000 mu standard machinery picking bases in 2017. Sichuan will also hold 6th Sichuan International Tea Expo, China Tea Industry International Summit and so on. Sichuan Provincial People’s Government will hold tea industry site promotion.
