  Focus

On December 2nd, Chengdu railway container central station in Qingbaijiang District, Chengdu.

On both sides of the channel were two layers of white, blue and red containers, while a crane in the yard was busy working flexibly and the railway trucks were quietly waiting for loading. Around the central station of customs, container trucks were waiting for entering it in a queue, and customs officers in blue uniforms were busy checking and examining customs locks.

With a ringing, a train of China-Europe Railway Express (Chengdu-Euro Railway Express) with 41 standard containers slowly started; its destination was Lodz, Poland. "There are two trains to Europe today." Zhang Jing, executive deputy general of Chengdu International Railway Service Co., Ltd., introduced that schedule of China-Europe Railway Express has been adjusted and now is"15 trains going to Europe and 13 returning" every week now.

Since the first running on April 26th, 2013, China-Europe Railway Express has grown rapidly, with its total amount, increasing rate and heavy loading rate ranking first in China.

  Extensiveness

  Wide-spreading coverage

"The first train from Milan, Italy to Chengdu has arrived in Mara." At 11:00, November 28th, the staff of the Chengdu International Railway Service Co., Ltd was looking in its operation by GPS.

This train was the 11th one among all of China-Europe Railway Express, also the first one directly connecting Italy and Chengdu, which has greatly shortened the distance between the Mediterranean market and the hinterland of Western China.

Mr. Liu Xuejun, deputy director of Chengdu port and logistics office, said that the railway has built a cross-border network of "one main line, multiple auxiliary lines and direct lines". There are 3 westward international lines: the central line - Chengdu to Lodz, Poland with a total length of 9826 km, whose end has been extended to Kutno in Poland, Nuremberg in Germany, Tilburg in Netherlands, Prague in Czech and other European cities; the southern line: Chengdu to Istanbul, Turkey, covering Central Asia, West Asia, South Asia and South Europe; the northern line: Chengdu to Moscow, covering CIS and other eastern European countries. In addition, we have also actively opened up the southward channels and launched the "Chengdu-Euro +" ASEAN international railway and ocean shipping, which has extended to Vietnam, Kuwait, Israel and other ASEAN and Middle East countries.

While continuing to open up new passages, Chengdu pioneered a new mode of urban cooperation between China and countries along the express to weave the domestic logistics network. It has launched the " Chengdu-Euro +" interconnection trains with 11 key cities, such as Shenzhen and Ningbo.

From the map of China-Europe Railway Express, our reporter saw that with Chengdu as the center, there were a number of lines, westward to Eurasia, eastward to domestic lines connecting Japan and South Korea and southward to Vietnam and Thailand.

Liu Xuejun introduced that Chengdu would continue to expand the layout of the express to form a Pan-Asian logistics system next year based on the current express, so that Chengdu would gain its land hub status in the global supply chain system.

  Aggregation effect of multi-industries

Near the central station is the first FTA parallel imported cars exhibition center in Sichuan Province, where BMW, Land Rover and Audi were displayed and selling. Many people came here for cars on weekends. “Recently our cars sell well for our price is lower than that in 4S stores." Xiao Liang, a salesman, said so.

The second floor of the exhibition center has been cleaned for the Israeli National Pavilion. The settlement of the project has achieved a breakthrough of zero international pavilion in Qingbaijiang District. In addition to commodity display, the Israeli National Pavilion also has the role of high-tech incubators to introduce advanced technology and high quality projects in Israel.

Officials of Qingbaijiang District introduced that the Eurasian logistics channel has attracted a number of the world's top 500, the domestic top companies, high-end manufacturing, star hotels, supermarkets, urban complex and other projects settlinghere. Qingbaijiang District is striving to build Chengdu international railway port into “the first port of international railway".

In order to better play the role of industrial agglomeration and radiation, a 24.9 square kilometer’s European Industrial city is planned on the southeastern side of the international railway port. In its core area, the City of Europe (the Heart of the Chengdu and Europe) is also planned. Construction of its first phase with 4 square kilometer has started. A number of major industrial projects, including the export processing industrial park of TCL, Zhenshi Composite Industrial Park, Eternal Asia from Shenzhen, P.G.Logistics Group from Guangzhou, CJ from South Korea, Aqseptence Environmental Manufacturing Industrial Park from Germany are planned to settle in China (Sichuan) Pilot Free Trade Zone and international railway port. Since the pilot free trade zone was listed, 583 new market owners have been set up in Qingbaijiang District with registered capital of 5.829 billion yuan.

At the end of last month, Qingbaijiang District innovated the land (railway and localities) cooperation mechanism, where Chengdu Container Logistics Investment Development Co., Ltd. Chengdu-European Railway Investment Development Co., Ltd., and Chengdu Railway Bureau will set up Chengdu International Railway Port Investment Development Group Limited. This is to strengthen the self-hematopoietic function of the railway port and build Chengdu into a "Eurasian inland portal" with global impact.
