Reporters have learned recently that Sichuan has valued graphene industry as one of emerging and high-end growing industries, accelerated to form new economy driving forces and striven to achieve the total industrial scale of over 50 billion yuan by 2020.

　　Sichuan has plentiful graphene resources. Currently Sichuan has found 36.55 million tons of graphene minerals. Panzhihua and Bazhong rank No. 3 and No.6 among top 6 cities in graphene resources in China.

　　Strengthening scientific research and development achievements is the key to promote graphene industry into high-end and transfer it into industrial advantages.

　　”The research and development in graphene fields start early and yield plentiful fruits in China.” Li Guangxian, Deputy Director of Chinese Materials Research Society said that by the end of 2015, China ranked first in papers on graphene with the USA as No. 2 and South Korea as No. 3. We should be aware that we failed to take a leading position in fundamental research and innovation technologies. Firstly, in terms of fundamental research, Britain, the USA and France take leading positions in the study, principles and character analysis of graphene. In terms of technical innovation, although we have the largest number of patents, we had few independent intellectual property rights in significant technical breakthroughs.

　　To achieve the target of making graphene industry as emerging and high-end growing industry”, Sichuan is working hard to increase science and technical power. Documents from Sichuan Economic and Information Commission indicate that there are about 40 research institutes and companies working on graphene. By the end of July, China Graphene Material Industrial Technical Strategic Alliance was established at Tianfu New District. Deyang, the earliest city engaged on large-scale manufacturing of graphene in China, has established a graphene industrial fund of 200 million yuan to create “Graphene Leading Base in Western China” and “Carbon Valley in Western China”.

Huang Zhaoyang, General Economist of Sichuan Economic and Information Commission, said that Sichuan would deeply implement Sichuan Action Plan of Made in China 2025, promote high-end industries and emerging strategic industries, focus on emerging high-end growing industries including graphene, accelerate to promote traditional industries and strive to construct green and low-carbon industrial system.
