On August 10th, The 5th Global Travel E-Commerce Conference was opened in Chengdu. On the conference, Chen Xu, Baidu’s Senior Adviser of Big Data, released Baidu Tourism Big Data White Paper: Sichuan Has More Than Giant Pandas, which is the third consecutive year that Baidu released these data. The White Paper, based on the flow data on various platforms of Baidu from April, 2015 to March, 2016, interpreted the development level of Sichuan tourism. These data indicate that the attention of Internet users on Sichuan tourism ranks No.5, and Chengdu ranks top 10 in national city travel search rankings as well as the most popular city in Sichuan.
The White Paper points out that city search rankings and their development mainly depend on scenic spot searching. In terms of scenic spots, among the TOP10 scenic spots in Sichuan, Jiuzhai Valley ranks first, Dujiangyan No. 3rd, Mount Qingcheng 6th, and Xiling Snow Mountain No. 7th. Moreover, 60.2% tourists starting from Chengdu choose to travel around Chengdu and 18.8% travel to Temple of Marquis, Mount Qingcheng, Dujiangyan, Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum, Jiezi Ancient Town, Jinsha Site and so on coming next. While tourists to Jiuzhai Valley, Mount Emei, Leshan Buddha, and Huanglong account for 20.57%. In terms of searching method, summer holiday is the summit for Sichuan tourism. Mobile searching has increased from 46% to 79%.
