Sichuan will construct 6 civil airports during the 13th Five-Year Plan Period. On 2016 China Civil Airports Construction Development Forum held in Chengdu on July 7th, Mr. Jiang Wei, Deputy Director of Airport Office of CAAC Southeast Regional Administration, revealed the information above, meaning that in the following 5 years, civil airports will be operated in 14 cities or prefectures. While Chengdu, Nanchong, Aba, and Ganzi will have 2 airports or even 3 airports.

　　A third airport will be constructed in Ganzi Prefecture

　　Currently, there are 13 civil airports in Sichuan, including 1 international airport (Chengdu Shangliu International Airport) and the other 12 regional airports. Among these newly constructed airports in the next 5 years, apart from the attractive Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, there are also 5 airports, including Leshan Airport, Ganzi (Gesar) Airport, Bazhogn Airport, Langzhong Airport, and Suining Airport. There will be 2 airports in Chengdu, Nanchong and Aba respectively and 3 airports in Ganzi.Mr. Pan Gangjun, General Manager of Sichuan Airport Group, indicated that Chengdu Tianfu International Airport would be initiated to construct by the end of 2016, planned to completed construction in 2019, and operated in 2020.

　　Druing the 13th Five-Year Plan Period, Sichuan will also complete the extension projects of Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, Jiuzhai Airport. Nanchong Airport, Mianyang Airport, Luzhou Airport, Panzhihua Airport, Xichang Airport, Yibin Airport, Aba Hongyuan Airport, Guangyuan Airport, Kanding Airport, and the removal projects of Luzhou Airport, Yibin Airport, Dazhou Airport, and Mianyang Airport.

Therefore, constructing an airport will play a significant role in driving the economic development for surrounding regions. The “dividends” brought about by Chengdu Tianfu International Airport and so on have attracted numerous construction units. Companies attending the forum including China Construction Steel Structure Corporation Limited, Sichuan Huashi Group Corporation Limited, and so on, indicated that they were busy bidding for the construction of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport.

　　As early as 2015, China Construction Steel Structure Corporation Limited, the largest steel structure, invested 700 million yuan in Chengdu Tianfu New District to construct manufacturing base in Western China with annual production capacity of 250,000 tons. It is learned that China Construction Steel Structure Corporation Limited will cooperate with enterprises in Sichuan to manufacture steel raw materials into steel structure and then installation. The terminals in hub airports in Shenzhen, Guangzhoum Chongqing, Wuhan and so on have also adopted steel structure projects.
