On the afternoon of September 28th, “An Open China: Read Sichuan, Feel the World” Global Presenting Activity was held at the Blue Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Wang Yi, Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Wang Dongming, Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC, delivered a speech respectively. Mr. Yin Li, Vice Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC and Governor of Sichuan Provincial People's Government, gave the presentation of Sichuan. Mr. Zhang Yesui, Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was present at the event. “Wherever you are from, Sichuan is always there. Welcome you with open arms.” On the presenting event, a video named “Read Sichuan, Feel the World” was played to guests and friends to present to fully present Sichuan’s natural landscapes, long history, and connection with the world, which had left them deep impression.

　　In his remarks, Minister Wang Yi said that today we were here to host the 4th event presenting Chinese provinces, and the protagonist was \ Sichuan province, which is renowned as the “land of abundance”. He hoped that Sichuan’s unique position in China's opening and reform could be better known and Sichuan’s opportunities in enlarging cooperation with China should be fully aware. Sichuan has always historically been the forerunner of China’s opening-up policy. Sichuan was once famous for its steep stone roads. But Sichuan people do not be blocked by these terrible roads. On the contrary, Sichuan people are fearless and ready to try. As early as Qin and Han Dynasty, The Southern Silk Road started from Chengdu had been emerged along which Sichuan’s clothing and bamboo products had been sold to India over 2,000 years ago. Sichuan has always played an important role no matter in the Southern Silk Road or the Northern Silk Road formed in the Han Dynasty. Sichuan People's pioneering spirit has lasted through generations. Through history, Sichuan has become the fresh force of China's new round of opening-up. Since 1978, especially in recent years, Sichuan has achieved rapid development in economy and expanded foreign exchanges, achieved the grand transformation from a basin in the west into a highland of development and from an inland province into a forefront of opening-up, and turned into a pacesetter of opening-up in western China. Sichuan has ranked No. 1 in economy volume in Western China in several years and been famous as “Western Silicon Valley” in China. Sichuan has also ranked among the top in western provinces in the number of nations and regions establishing economic and trade relationship as well as the foreign consulates. Western China International Fair organized by Sichuan has also become an important name card for Western China to achieve opening-up and cooperation. Sichuan is expected to become a leader in building a new pattern of comprehensive opening-up in China in the future. The constructions of the "Belt and Road" and the Yangtze River Economic Zone provide great opportunities for Sichuan to expand the scope of opening-up and cooperation and improve the development level of the open economy.  Connected with Central Asian and European countries to the West, aligned with the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor to the north, integrated in the China-Indochina Peninsula Economic Corridor, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor to the south, as well as reaching the golden waterway of Yangtze River to the east, Sichuan boasts broad prospects in its blueprint of comprehensive opening-up. 

　　Minister Wang Yi said that Sichuan’s past, present and future were present to everyone. It reflected a vivid miniature of comprehensive promotion of opening-up from east to west and from coastal provinces to inland as well as frontier regions and a grand picture of China's opening gate and more opportunities with international cooperation. He called on to connect with Sichuan and work together with Sichuan to compose more good stories and chapters of win-win cooperation between China and other countries.

　　In his remarks, Mr. Wang Dongming extended sincere gratitude towards Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their supporting and sincere welcome for diplomatic envoys, guests and friends present at the event. He said that Sichuan was renowned as the “land of abundance”. In the history of several thousand years, splendid landscapes, Sichuan basin with fertile lands, remarkable folks, and colorful and inclusive humanity spirit bear the profound Bashu culture and expand brilliant Chinese civilization. In the Qin and Han Dynasty of over 2,000 years, the industrious and intelligent Sichuan people had dug out dangerous and sheer ancient Shu roads and built the transportation corridor for Sichuan to integrate plain civilization. In the endless years, The Tea and Horse Ancient Road and the Southern Silk Road with camel bells had brought glowing Sichuan brocade, fragrant Sichuan tea, soft and mellow Sichuan wine to the world, created a prosperous and thriving Sichuan and made Sichuan a critical land linking Southern China and Northern China as well as China and foreign countries. It could be safely concluded that Sichuan had linked with the world closely since ancient time, and the in-depth exchanges had shaped the opening and inclusive opening picture of Sichuan combining ancient and modern civilizations.

　　Mr. Wang Dongming said that current Sichuan had close connection with the world since ancient times and was now blending into global economic integration with a faster pace. As a major province with robust economy, large population, strong science and technology, tremendous resources and influential tourism, Sichuan plays an important role in serving national strategies. In recent years, Sichuan has carefully implemented the decisions and deployments of the Central Government, focused on the economic transformation, and achieved provincial GDP of 3 trillion yuan in 2015. Sichuan has yielded tremendous achievements in economic structure adjustment and enhanced development quality and effectiveness. Sichuan will accelerate the linkage and connection of infrastructure. Sichuan has transformed from an inland to opening-up frontier with closer space with the world. Sichuan will vigorously promote industrial transformation and upgrading, accelerate to integrate into global industrial value chains, expand cooperation fields with the world. Sichuan will work hard to construct high-end opening and cooperation platforms, continuously enhance opening economic levels, closer linkage with the world in economy/ Sichuan has embraced with unprecedented and historical development opportunities brought by Tianfu New District enhancing as national level district, systemic promotion of comprehensive innovation and reform pilot, and approval as free trade polite zone and so on. Sichuan has more vigorous and powerful development driving forces and increasingly large cooperation space with the world. Sichuan is a land filled with vigor and hopes. Sichuan will steadily pave on the way of opening-up, spare no efforts to create a just marketing environment, a transparent legitimate environment, a relax and preferential policy environment, a efficient and clean governance environment, work with global friends to create win-win and beautiful future. As an old saying goes, seeing is believing, Sichuan sincerely invites and warmly look forward to the visit to Sichuan. He believed that the personal seeing Sichuan must be more splendid and beautiful than it in the video.

　　Governor Yin Li gave the presentation from several four indications, namely Chuan meaning rivers, plains, roads, and journey, and presented Sichuan’s splendid natural landscape, rich and long history, and prosperity. He said that Sichuan was accelerating to develop and a land full of vigor and hopes. He welcomed people from all circles at home and abroad to come to Sichuan, develop business in Sichuan and settle down in Sichuan.

　　Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov, German Ambassador to China Michael Clauss, Indian Ambassador to China Vijay Gokhale, Equatorial Guinean Ambassador to China Ekua Avomo and Consul-General of Australia in Chengdu Nancy Lillian Gordon delivered speeches respectively, and appreciated Sichuan’s achievements in economic development, industrial transformation and upgrading, and opening-up and so on. They also appraised Sichuan’s beautiful national ecology and investment environment, indicated that they were optimistic about the strategic position and promising future of Sichuan in the constructions of “Belt and Road” and opening and cooperation and willing to go to Sichuan, have a better understanding of Sichuan, and work with Sichuan to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Sichuan in all fields.

　　During the event, Mr. Wang Yi and Mr. Zhang Yesui met Mr. Wang Dongming and Mr. Yin Li respectively and jointly visited the exhibition with the theme of “Vigorous Sichuan and World Opportunities”. Mr. Wang Dongming and Mr. Yin Li talked briefly with Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov, German Ambassador to China Michael Claus, Australian Ambassador Jan Adam, Spanish Ambassador to China Manuel Valencia, Kazakhstan Ambassador to China Shakhrat Nuryshev, French Ambassador to China Maurice Gourdault-Montagne, Argentina Ambassador to China Diego Guelar, Cambodia Ambassador to China Khek Caimealy, Equatorial Guinean Ambassador to China Ekua Avomo, Japanese Ambassador to China YokoiYutaka, and so on. Mr. Yin Li also met some officials of consulates in Chengdu and Chongqing.

　　Mr. Wu Jingping, Member of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC, and Mr. Gan Lin, Member of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC, and Mr. Zhu Hexin, Vice Governor of Sichuan Provincial People's Government, Mr. Tang Liangzhi, Secretary of Chengdu Municipal Committee of the CPC, relevant responsible officials from ministries, research institutes and so on, nearly 600 people including diplomatic envoys and representatives in China from over 140 countries and global organizations, business and industrial representatives, Chinese and foreign experts and scholars, and journalists were present at the event.
