Updated:2015.08.03

It is quite a pleasure to welcome the coming of far friends. On July 29, 160 representatives from 14 Federal Bodies of Volga and 180 representatives from 6 provinces of Yangtze River got together in Chengdu, initiating 2015 China and Russia “Two River” Youth Forum” and beginning their 12 days of learning and exchanging.

On the opening ceremony, youth representatives from China and Russia brought about artistic performances with special national characters. Chinese youth sent their sincere welcome and displayed different cultures in China to faraway Russian youth through folk dances, classic dances and face changes and so on. While Russian friends, with folk clothes, danced traditional dancing to melodious Russian folk music, bringing Chinese friends to the remote Volga Region. Representatives cheered and applauded for them with Chinese and Russian flags in hand. Flying over mountainside and rives, Chinese and Russian cultures were exchanging and integrating in youth. Although this was their first time seeing each other, the vigor of youth had broken down the strangeness quickly. They talked with each other about the most interesting topics.

"What differences are there between the university lives in Russia and China?” “Have you been to Chengdu before?” “How do you like Sichuan?” “What are you expecting while attending this youth forum?” The sparkle of friendship warmed up between their dialogues. Feeling Chinese traditional culture, seeing the giant pandas, learning to coke Sichuan cuisine, and exchanging with Chinese youth, every Russian representative had different expectations to this youth forum. Next, youth representatives would be divided into 7 teams led by 7 Sichuan universities to have a better understanding of Sichuan, Chinese traditional cultures and Sichuan characters.

Mr. Wang Ning, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, managing vice governor of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, attended the opening ceremony. In his speech, Mr. Wang Ning said that youth was the future of a nation. “Two Rivers” Youth Forum of China and Youth was an important activity of “Two Rivers” Local Leaders” 4th Seminar as well as an event of exchanges between Chinese and Russian youth. Young friends could feel traditional cultures, visit historical places of interest, appreciating beautiful scenery, and experiencing special classes in Sichuan. He hoped that we could learn each other, make progress jointly, and further enhance understanding and friendship in exchanges.

First Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Department of Russia thought that the activity would be a milestone of humanism exchanges and the youth who attended the activity would be an important link to maintain mutual friendship between China and Russia.
