On May 21st at local time, on the 3rd Fez International Sister Cities Congress, representative of Chengdu Municipal Government and Mr. Hamid Chabat, mayor of Fes, Morocco, signed memorandum of establishing Chengdu and Fes as friendly cooperation relationship.

　　
　　Fes, the third largest city in Morocco, is located in the southeast of Morocco. It is also the religious, cultural, art center of Morocco for over a thousand years. The ancient town of Fes, as the neighborhoods of the Arabian, is deeply rooted at religion, traditional culture and philosophy and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mr. Chabat indicated that he hoped to expand bilateral cooperation fields through establishing sister city relationship. He also wished to visit Chengdu as soon as possible.
