43 Sichuan Companies Headed for Central Asia to Grasp Development Opportunities
Updated:2015.05.20

"We want to expand the markets of 5 central Asian countries with the help of Central Asian Rail.” On May 18th, Mrs. Peng Jun, director of Trade Department of Chengdu Nondo Furniture, was quite hopeful. On the same day, together with other delegations of Sichuan trade delegates, she attened “100 Sichuan Enterprises in Central Asia”, a trade and investment promotion activity of the Silk Road Economic Belt held in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

This is an important activity of Sichuan “10,000 Enterprises Going Globally” in 2015 and the first comprehensive and large scale trade and economic activity especially for the key nations and regions of “One Belt and One Road”. Altogether 43 Sichuan enterprises attended and set up 35 exhibition platforms, concerning multiple industries such as petroleum machinery, automobile and accessories, furniture, logistics and so on.

Meanwhile, Sichuan will hold China (Sichuan) - Central Asia (Kazakhstan) Trade Docking Meeting and “Double Gold International Channel” and Chengdu Railway Port Promotion Meeting. Currently, over 100 Kazakhstan companies have confirmed their attendance.

Mrs. Peng Jun introduced that in the first quarter the export volume of Nondo Furniture amounted to 10 million yuan, increasing 20%. The sharp increasing of orders from Central Asia is the main reason to drive the growth of export. Nondo Furniture has carried out a market research and found that the most furniture of Central Asian countries was exported from China. Mrs. Peng Jun hoped to receive more orders from Central Asian countries through this activity. The oil reserve of Kazakhstan ranks 9th in the world. Mr. Liu Guangfu, head of Overseas Sale Department of Chengdu Deep Diamond Bit Co., Ltd. said that there would be 200 wells drilled in Kazakhstan every year. Calculating by 20 - 30 bits for each well and 10,000 US dollars for each bit, the consumption of bits in Kazakhstan every year would reach 40 - 50 million US dollars. “We hope to meet new business partners and expand markets based on the platform constructed by the government.”

The opening of Central Asia Rail and Chengdu-Europe Express Rail would bring about tremendous conveniences for Sichuan enterprises to expand overseas markets. New mechanisms for expanding markets would also play a vital promoting role. With the support of Commercial Department of Sichuan Province, Chengdu Xindu District Furniture Association will establish an office in Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, in order to provide market information and construct market expanding platforms for Sichuan furniture companies. Mr. Yang Jilai, secretary general of the association revealed that the office would explore member companies to register in the way of buying shares so as to receive orders and exports together. There were several shareholders participating the inspection of market in this trip.
