On the afternoon of March 18th, Mr. Wei Hong, vice secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC and governor of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, in Chengdu met Mr. Dalziel, mayor of Christchurch, New Zealand.
Mr. Wei Hong extended his sincere welcome to Mr. Dalziel. He said that in the situation when the relationship betwen China and New Zealand was developing continually, the cooperation between Sichuan and New Zealand was deeper and deeper. Like Christchurch, Sichuan has also been stricken by massive earthquakes. He hoped that Sichuan and Christchurch could get substantial progress in the cooperation of post-earthquake reconstruction. He suggested that Sichuan and Christchurch could construct more platforms mutually, hold more activities, and expand cooperation in fields such as education, tourism and so on.
Mr. Dalziel introduced that the reconstruction of buildings and the restoration of people's daily life at Wenchuan Earthquake Stricken Area were impressive. Sichuan's experience and strength in earthquake reconstruction were convincing. He hoped that both sides could work together to accelerate the implementation of projects in earthquake reconstruction. He also looked forward to achieving new breakthroughs in exchanges and cooperation in deeper sense and more fields.
