Second City Sample of Ancient Shu Culture Was Found at Zhaohua, Guangyuan

  Recently, during the early archaeological work of Jianmen Shu Road development at Zhaohua, Guangyuan, the ancient city ruins of the Western Zhou Dynasty covering an area of 50,000 square meters in total were found, becoming the second ancient city samplereflecting Ancient Shu culture discovered in Sichuan after Sanxingdui Ancient City. The discovery of the ruins would probably solve problems such as the northward migrating path of people after Sanxingdui Kingdom was destructed and how Zhou culture with Baoji as core and Shu culture exchanged.

  The archaeological site is located at Tuji Dam and Baiyan Village of Zhaohua Ancient Town. After two months of research, 43 remains of all types are found. Baiyan Dam Ancient Town of 50,000 square meters is the most significant discovery, which serves as the first city ruins of Western Zhou Dynasty discovered in Sichuan and will provide important information on comparatively apprehend Zhou culture and Shu culture.
