Updated:2014.08.20

Recently, during a routine archangel exploitation at a construction site of Bairen Community, Qingyang District, Chengdu, a settlement site of Shang and Zhou Dynasties was found. According to archaeologists, this site was at almost the same period as Jinsha Site, providing certain value for researching people’s life of Chengdu Plain in Shang and Zhou Dynasties.

On the evening of August 15th, reporters saw that there had been dug over 20 excavation sites. Over 10 excavation sites were found circular and rectangular remains seemingly like pits. Channels of different directions almost covered all the remain site. There were also a lot of fragments of black pottery piled up at a corner of temporary housing of archaeological site.

According to Mr. Liu Jun, who were in charge of the archaeological site, during the archaeological exploration of a construction site about 200 meters away from Bairen Community in the southwestern direction in June, this settlement site of Shang and Zhou Dynasties was found. Now the exploring area had been over 2,000 square meters. Currently, what was found was remains of ancient people’s lives, such as pits, drains, cellars, caves, potteries and so on. No tomb had been discovered yet. With the expansion of excavation area, maybe there would be exquisite artifacts unearthed.
