Consulate General of Israel in Chengdu Inaugurated |

On November 17th, Consulate General of Israel in Chengdu inaugurated. Mr. Zhong Mian, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, vice governor of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, and Mr. Matan Vilnai, ambassador of the State to the People's Republic of China, attended the opening ceremony delivered speeches.
Consulate General of Israel in Chengdu is the 4th consular institutions established in China after in Shanghai, Guanzhou and Hong Kong, with the consular area of Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou and Yunnan.
In recent years, with the joint mutual efforts, Sichuan and Israel have achieved remarkable fruits in trade, agriculture, technology, culture and so on. In 2013, the trade volume of Sichuan and Israel amounted to 650 million US dollars, a year-on-year growth of 40.9%. Last November, Chengdu and Haifa of Israel had established international sister city relationship.
In his speech, Mr. Zhong Mian indicated that the exchanges and cooperation between Sichuan and Israel had been deepened with promising future. In this circumstance, the establishment of Consulate General of Israel in Chengdu had been the bridge linking Western China to Israel, signifying the new chapter of exchanges and cooperation between Sichuan and Israel.
Mr. Matan Vilnai said that the establishment of Consulate General of Israel in Chengdu highlighted the rapid development of relationship between China and Israel and the great importance that Israel Government had attached on Southwestern China, merely a small step that Israel strengthened the cooperation with Southwestern China areas. He sincerely hoped that in the future there would be more achievements.
