On August 6, Emei International Tourism West Ring Highway (Hongya - Emei Highway), a major provincial project with a total investment of 4.13 billion yuan and a total length of 64.2 km, started to construct. After completion, there would be a closer tie among Emei Mountain in Leshan City, Wawu Mountain in Hongya County, Zhougong Mountain of Ya’an City to enhance their attraction.

　　Emei International Tourism West Ring Highway goes through towns of Hongya County, respectively Hongchuan, Zhige, Dongyue, Huaxi, Liujiang, Gaomiao, and ends at Lingongli of Emei Mountain. The highway is built according to Highway I-Level Standard with the construction period of 48 months. The designed speed of Hongya - Jiujiang Section is 80 km per hour and Liujiang - Linggongli Section is 60 km per hour.

　　This highway is also designed as a landscape avenue. There is overall planning, optimization and construction for settlement area, scenic spots and service area. By then, a comprehensive transport system with distinctive levels and complementary functions in Leshan, Meishan and Ya’an in order to accelerate Meishan(Hongya) and Ya’an eco-tourism to join Big Emei Mountain Tourism Economic Zone and to form “Big Emei Mountain International Leisure and Tourism Resort”.
