Mount Emei: Restorative Growth of Visitors
Updated:2013.05.03

During the May Day Holiday, there were 77,798 arrivals to Mount Emei - Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Spot, the first tourist peak after Lushan Earthquake.

In order to make tourists set free their souls, since April 28, Mount Emei Scenic Spot planned to hold Mount Emei Jinding Praying Activities, namely “Praying for Ya’an and Caring about Sichuan”. Visitors could attend out of charge at 9:30 and 10:30 am every day until May 28. Enterprises owned by the scenic spot also provided a series of discount package activities and warm service to tourists, which were popular and widely accepted among tourists.

Although the total number of visitors has declined over that of 2012 during May Day Holiday, tourists increased day by day. Meanwhile, organized self-driving car fleet was a flowing scenery line. There were no complaints from tourists or major tourism-related security incidents during the holiday, which indicated the vigorous growth of tourism market after the earthquake. On April 29, 24,113 visitors came to this scenic spot, while the next day, the number reached 33,142.

Reporters found on May 1 that tourists’ travel interest was not reduced by the earthquake. Qin Furong, party secretary of Mount Emei - Leshan Giant Buddha Management Committee, introduced that Mount Emei Scenic Spot received its first wave of tourists one month after the devastating Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008. But after Lushan Earthquake on April 20, tourists never stopped visiting Mount Emei, with at least 3,000 every day.
